It's cold and snowy

Up north, we often encounter Severe Weather Alerts, which seem entirely appropriate for this site. Weather.com is kind enough to provide both national and regional weather alerts. Here we have the national and northeast regional severe weather alert maps for today.

Defining a Lert

The city of Fort Collins, Colorado has clearly defined our identity: found this definition at a government site:

A Lert: a creature who is constantly aware of what is going on in its environment.

This is a pdf file, so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view it.

You can now adopt a lert

Lerts are available for adoption. Please visit this site.

A Lert Businesses

If you are running a company, it pays to be a lert.

We are not alone!!!

There is a web site called the Myrth Museum that has a page about staying a lert. Here are their comments regarding this image,

"Webfoot finds it difficult to stay on a Lert for very long, since Lerts are sharp and spiny creatures and can be uncomfortable in close quarters. They are endowed with long snouts to help them keep track of whatever is going on around them and their spines act as miniature antennae. They are very good scouts and sources for information, but have rather prickly personalities and are easily crossed. Of course, the pufflings sometimes find themselves on the receiving end of a sharp (literally) rebuke, for their naturally high spirits can lead them to say things (unintentionally, of course) that cause the sensitive Lerts consternation.
